Boating Day Checklist: 12 Essentials to Pack

Sun Protection (Non-Negotiable)

  • UPF long-sleeve shirt. One shirt beats reapplying sunscreen every 80 minutes. Our sun-protective apparel is built for exactly this.
  • Hat. A brim keeps sun off your face, ears, and neck. Find your fit here.
  • Polarized sunglasses. Cut glare, see into the water, stop squinting all day.
  • Sunscreen. For everything the clothing does not cover — ears, hands, feet.

Hydration and Fuel

  • Insulated tumbler or bottle. Water goes warm fast in the sun; double-wall insulation keeps it cold till evening. Shop drinkware.
  • Cooler with food and drinks. Pack more water than you think you need.

Safety Gear

  • Life jackets for everyone aboard — properly fitting, not just present.
  • First aid kit with seasickness tablets if anyone is prone.
  • Phone in a waterproof pouch plus a portable charger.

Comfort Extras

  • Dry bag for wallets, keys, and anything that cannot get wet.
  • Towels — two per person is not excessive.
  • A change of clothes left in the car. Future you says thanks.

The Bottom Line

Most bad boat days are just good boat days missing one item from this list. Pack it the night before and spend the day on the water instead of wishing you had.
